In the first clip (above) Taj goes absolutely mad on his 5′11″ Firewire at home in West Oz and a few spots on the Gold Coast of Australia. The last couple waves at some mysto left are worth waiting for…
Taj comments on his preferred dimensions and why he rides Firewire boards as opposed to your standard polyurethane models.

you know, Taj gets grief for his “flickiness” but he’s solid. Those south straddie banks are solid as well. not solid? the taj interview. similar to most NFL/NBA types, pro surfers should never be allowed to give interviews other than for print. this includes slater, who’s now entering the realm of elite blowhard.

I had a Nihilist song off the new album, but Cote shot that edit down…

Nihilist and Cote said no? Maybe pitch him this version of Nihilist next time and he might let it slide…

Firewire boards are shit… I forked out the ridiculous price for 1 and put my foot thro the deck within 2 weeks in 4-5 foot beachies. I then parted with $300 to get it fixed only to snap it completely the following week on a well known aussie beachie that is not a heavy wave…. and i’m just an average punter, not ripping or anything. Got no love from the company just a “shit happens” mentality. The only reason I got the board was ’cause they have this indestructable reputation- its a load of marketing bullshit… i’m back on JS boards now… heaps better. Don’t be fooled like I was.

Yikes, that’s some real feedback. They should show more customer service especially for the price.

yeah man. My boyee buckled his firewire in 3 foot beach break crap on the second session ever on his brand new quad… got no love from firewire nor the shop he bought it from. Just ate the $750.00 price tag and threw the board away.

Benny B, Kook,
Our boards are not indestructable. How many PU boards break on any given day in a variety of conditions?
Granted initially there were some claims made regarding strength which did create an unrealistic expectation, but that was 3 years ago.
I am proud of the customer service of our company and we’ve worked hard to address any legitimate issues surrounding our boards. When did you guys buy your boards and from which store?
Feel free to contact me directly through our forum @ http://www.firewiresurfboards.com/forum , I’d like to research your particular cases.
As far as the vast majoriy of our customer are concerned, I believe they’re stoked on their boards. If they were crap, I doubt we’d still be in busines 3 years later.
Look forward to your specifics.
Best regards,
Mark

Great reply Mark. Most companies would let the criticism stay out there with no response. I have two firewire boards, an alternator and a quad flex, and love them. Convinced a couple friends I surf with to buy them too and they have been satisfied as well. Customer service has been good. One time we met the sales rep at his house to demo some boards before a purchase. What can I say, I’m stoked on these boards.
