Hey, when did Carlsbad, CA.’s Ricky Whitlock become this madman big wave guy? Seems like just last summer he was groveling the C-Bad shorebreak with us on the Rail Of Death…now he’s all big time and towing in on 20-footers. From Matix Mondays but posted on Tuesday…sue us.

that was a pretty good clip… anyone who says tow in surfing “takes away from the spiritual natural side of surfing” is a fucking dirty hippy… i would be scared shitless to have some giant monster of a beast crashing down behind me… i take off my hat to all those guys who charge these big waves because you sure won’t find my scared ass out there =)

This video, which is one of the worst non-user-submitted I’ve seen on this site, only supports the idea of Ricky as a “D List” pro. Certainly a good surfer, but you’ll find 10 of him at every New Pier, North Narra or 56th Street you go to.
