When Sunday morning dawned for the first day of the contest, the surf was perfect – 6 to 10 foot faces with no wind. Eventual Boys Under 18 winner, Dominic Di Pietro called it “The best surf conditions for an amateur competition ever, hands down!”

The third WSA Prime Event of the season went down this past weekend at the Oceanside Harbor. Competitors donated gifts to Toys for Tots and were in turn presented with a gift themselves: good surf. Courtney Conlogue and Dane Zaun won their divisions, making for back-to-back wins for each of them.

“For every kid, probably the biggest thing you could do is be on the USA Surf Team. So every kid down at the WSA’s is trying their hardest to make a statement in front of Surfing America and everybody that works there," Dane Zaun.
