We scored again! What was forecast to be a flat weekend for surf with the threat of rain turned out to be some of the best conditions to date. Clean, peaky chest to shoulder high plus waves greeted competitors Saturday morning and the winds remained calm all day.
The new series, dubbed the Scholastic Surf Series (SSS) will provide a professionally managed and operated platform for school surf teams from San Diego to Santa Barbara. Teams competing in this new series can expect the same high quality events that the WSA is known for, including professional judging, quality events, and a family oriented program.
A record 330 surfers completed the minimum five events to be invited to the WSA Gatorade West Coast Championships and more than 300 were in attendance at Church Beach, San Onofre. Check out all the photos and full results here.

The WSA, established in 1961, is a California non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting and preserving the sport of surfing through fun, family oriented surf competitions.

The Gatorade Company announced yesterday sponsorship agreements with both the Eastern Surfing Association (ESA) and the Western Surfing Association (WSA). As part of the new agreement, Gatorade will support surf events held by ESA and WSA, including championship events.
