Follow Peter Heller as he braves the icy waters of the Antarctic to shed the first rays of light on the brave group called Sea Shepherd in their efforts to stop illegal Japanese whaling.
An Animal Planet film crew was with Sea Shepherd, capturing the mission from the group’s point of view. Sea Shepherd members have been labeled as activists, heroes and eco-pirates — the group’s vessel sails under a Jolly Roger flag — and its goal is to cut into the profits of Japanese whaling.
Greenpeace has decided against tackling the Japanese whaling fleet in the Antarctic this summer. The environmental organization has repeatedly disrupted whaling in the far south, but with the fleet's departure close, has announced plans to campaign in Japan instead.
