The first day of competition at the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships in New Zealand saw the Boys Under 18 and Under 16 divisions. All eight Americans advanced through and are slotted for Round 2. Day 1 photos and video here

The PacSun USA Surf Team has arrived safely in Piha New Zealand and is hard at work preparing for the 2010 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships. The event commences this afternoon with the Parade of Nations and Opening Ceremony. Competition begins tomorrow morning. A rising swell produced four- to six-foot conditions with size forecasted to build through tomorrow.
