Surf for the Sea is a commemorative surfing event in loving memory of the late Harry Bennett, Steve Leighton, Tore Bonura, Chuck “Clubber” Hundley, Banning Capps, Court Overin, John Craven, Midget Smith and Casey Williams, all local surfers who have passed away.

The Interscholastic Surfing Federation completed event #4 of Division 3 and 4 High School surfing competition. The event was held Saturday and Sunday, February 21 and 22, 2009 at the Oceanside Pier. Conditions were awesome with glassy 3 -5 foot surf with warm summer like conditions. Results for teams and individuals follow.
