Pro Surfer To Host Maui’s Top Juniors At The 8th Annual “Ian Walsh’s Menehune Mayhem” On Saturday, March 26th At Ho’okipa Beach, Maui
The Ian Walsh Menehune Mayhem grom contest highlight video with some heavy shredding by some of Maui's finest up and coming surfers...
Based upon Ian's “I’m just happy to give back to the place that’s given me everything,” motto, the 7th annual Ian Walsh Menehune Mayhem event is a hit with the Maui groms...
With the support of his sponsors, O’Neill and Red Bull, Walsh provided a total grom focused affair that included an all day BBQ, tons of promo, a dance off, and even a mascot goat.
Walsh, an advocate for introducing and instilling a passion for surfing in Hawaii's youth, created the free event with the help of O'Neill and Red Bull as a way giving back to the children and teens of Maui as well as showcasing what the surf culture and sport have to offer.
The event is a memorial to Justin Roberson, who died at age 19 in 1989 from a vehicle-related accident while in California for World Qualifying Series events.
With no surf available at Honolua Bay, event organizers for the Billabong Pro Maui have called competition off for the day and have announced the relocation to Ho’okipa Beach Park on the northern side of Maui for tomorrow’s competition.
