Red Bull Rivals is a one day surf event pitting Oahu’s legendary shores, North Shore and South Shore, against each other. Top surfers from each shore will battle it out in a head-to-head surf competition for ultimate island bragging rights. To keep things fair, the event will again be held on the Eastside of Oahu at Sandy Beach, which is neutral territory.

"The two big contenders when it came down to it were Kustom's Chris 'CHIPPA' Wilson and Hawaiian Flynn Novak, both riding away from amazing and very different examples of how to take surfing forward."

A huge congrats is in order to North Shore surfer and TransWorld SURF correspondent Flynn Novak who just won the 2010 Kustom Airstrike!

Ten surfers for each team were chosen by the public via an online poll. Each shore’s team has to include at least one female surfer and two groms. A “ringer” will be allowed to be a part of each team and does not have to be disclosed until day of competition; the “ringer” can be any surfer from anywhere in the world. Flynn Novak, the lanky Hawaiian goofyfooter who turned heads as he took down some big name surfers on his way to a quarter-final placing in the 2009 Billabong Pipeline Masters, has more in his arsenal than tight barrel riding.
