The two potential ESA Easterns sweepers (Nick Rupp and Chris Tucker) both made it into the final today, which takes place tomorrow afternoon. We caught up with Chris today as part two of our "Resurrecting The Sweep" as the youth divisions pushed towards the final leg.
The famed ESA Easterns sweep has the major potential to be alive and well this year. It’s been since 2007 when Rob Kelly took both the Junior Men’s and Open Shortboard divisions. But Nick Rupp and Chris Tucker have it in the crosshairs...
Though no actual youth specific divisions got underway today, the main attraction on Wednesday was the start and completion of the Open Shortboard division—one of the most coveted at Easterns. With the surf having bumped down a notch and organized a bit more, there were some board-breaking grinders unloading off the Cape Hatteras groin.

The swell was still uncontestable for today on the Outer Banks for the ESA Easterns to get underway. But we surfed a clean pointbreak and kept true to an East Coast adage.
