Garrett Parkes (Byron Bay, NSW, Australia) 17, secured the first ASP Pro Junior victory of his career taking down former World Junior Champion Dean Bowen (South Coast, NSW, Australia) in the final of the ASP 5 Star TNS Rangiroa Pro Junior in French Polynesia today.
In the water, it was American duo Conner Coffin (Santa Barbra CA, USA) and Evan Geiselman (New Smyrna Beach, FL, USA) who shone brightest on day-one.
“I’ll definitely be having a few drinks tonight with family and friends, and possibly take a quiet little trip to the Gold Coast casino,” an excited Bowen, 19, said.
Held in magnificent surf over four days at the famous Keramas Rivermouth on the East Coast of Bali, Bowen’s powerful backhand on-face surfing proved too strong for fellow Finalist Teale Vanner (Australia/Kangaroo Island/SA) in a one-sided affair. Bowen’s top two rides of a 7.0 and a 7.5
