Cold Water Surfing
Due to small inconsistent waves The O'Neill Coldwater Classic Scotland was forced to hold off from running competition after the incoming afternoon tide failed to pulse with adequate strength. After being placed on hold throughout the morning and early afternoon, event officials decided to return tomorrow morning to assess conditions for a possible restart of competition.

The O’Neill Cold Water Classic Series 2011 continues with its promise to push boundaries to find new remote waves around the world in which to host a world-class surfing competition series. For 2011, the O’Neill CWC Series will bring a 6 Star ASP World Tour event to Gisborne, on the North Island of New Zealand for the first time ever.

Top seeds including Eric Geiselman (New Smyrna Beach, FL), 22, Glen Hall (IRL), 26, and Julian Wilson (Coolum, AUS), 22, were standouts in Round 1 of the ASP 6-Star O’Neill Cold Water Classic Canada, with each competitor putting on impressive performances in the three-to-four foot (1 metre) waves at North Chesterman’s beach in clean conditions despite consistent rain throughout the day.
The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 6-Star men’s O'Neill Cold Water Classic Scotland commenced round two of competition with the event’s top seeded surfers until due to lack of waves it was eventually put on hold after the completion of heat nº 13. Following an afternoon assessment of conditions event officials decided to wait until tomorrow to resume competition.
Competition was today postponed due to insufficient wave quality and size. After several calls throughout the morning and then a final call this afternoon at Thurso East event officials decided not to start round two of the US$145.000 Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 6-Star men’s O'Neill Cold Water Classic Scotland.
