Day 1 of the Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons, the third and final stop on the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing (an ASP Specialty Series) got underway today, with Rounds 1 and 2 completed in challenging six foot (2 metre) waves at the Banzai Pipeline on Oahu’s North Shore.
Two time and defending Vans Triple Crown champion, Joel Parkinson (AUS), 29, remains on track for a third straight title after advancing to Round 3 of the Billabong Pipe Masters that commenced today in eight-to-12 foot (2.5-to-4m) surf at Pipeline in Hawaii.
