US Open Of Surfing Kicks Off Saturday, July 31st
The 2010 US Open of Surfing is a marathon event that not only includes competitors from the Men’s ASP PRIME and Women’s ASP 6-Star event seeking ratings points to qualify for the prestigious ASP Dream Tour, but also holds the ASP Grade-2 US Open Junior Pro, which will showcase the nation’s finest men's and women's ASP Pro Junior talent hunting for a position of the inaugural ASP World Junior Tour.

"I'm so happy. It was a very good event for me, we had some pretty hard days and today everything went right to me," said Aritz Aranburu, who jumped from 60th to the 35th place on the new ASP World Rankings.

The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 6-Star men’s O'Neill Cold Water Classic Scotland commenced round two of competition with the event’s top seeded surfers until due to lack of waves it was eventually put on hold after the completion of heat nº 13. Following an afternoon assessment of conditions event officials decided to wait until tomorrow to resume competition.
