Recent reports by media suggest great white sharks are frequenting the waters of Southern California more often. This is scary especially when it is my home break being reported on the news. I was wondering if anyone knows why they are here. I wont stop surfing, but it sure makes me think twice before paddling out.

I'm not sure about any specifically in socal but if you're worried I'd say your best bet for finding the sharks is just looking where their food is. I'm up by santa cruz and i know great whites are all over the place by año nuevo up hwy 1 because that is an elephant seal breeding area. sooo my advice to you if you're worried about them is find their food and avoid swimming with it. and then all the other shark prevention stuff, but it really shouldn't be that big of a deal i don't think

yeah i havent seen any but i didnt know they are becoming more prevalent in socal, that is sorta scary
