What up… I'm just trying to get some general feedback. I'm considering launching a 'high end' California coastal surf tour company. This would be by boat - 65foot (or more) plush charter boat. The tour would begin in Santa Cruz or Monterey and travel south over 4 or 5 days of surfing. The final destination would be either Malibu (Marina Del Rey) or Ventura. The idea would be to get the group of 6 - 10 surfers to spots that they would not typically be able to surf from land. Spots like Big sur coasline, Vandenberg/Jalama area, Point Conception, The ranch, San Miguel Island, etc.. Surf by day while the boat travels at night to the next spot for a dawn patrol. Planning to have the boat eqquiped with JetSki, Kayaks, a Skiff. Family members could come along and do beach trips, fish, sun, surf, etc.. Like a cruise, the Boat could potentially put in for a few hours of drinks or shoppping during evenings at nice destinations along the way - Morro Bay, Santa Barbara, Ventura, LA, etc.. Sparring no expense on the boat should be assumed. This would be an all inclusive vacation, Gourmet food, a top chef, drinks, snacks, etc..
I really do not see anything like being tried on the California coast and would welcome some feedback to whether this would work and if people would come from around the world to do this? I see costs of $2,000 per person being paid for these trips all over the world, why not here?
I am doing my investigating and looking to launch the business in the summer of 2010.
