Costa Mesa, CA (June 23, 2009): June 20, 2009 was a call to action for all surfers to honor our sport, go surfing, and do something to give back. The Surfrider Foundation has been the force activating surfers worldwide to participate in this day, and with their collective efforts, the 3rd annual International Surfing Day was a massive success. 

Rip Curl is proud to announce that 2% of total sales from all Rip Curl Surf Centers during June 20 has been donated to the Surfrider Foundation. “It's absolutely amazing what Surfrider does to bring International Surfing Day to life,” stated Rip Curl USA marketing director Dylan Slater. “Their ability to unify surfers internationally, while activating beach clean-ups and various measures to give back makes me really proud to have Rip Curl involved.” 

Matt McClain, director of marketing for the Surfrider Foundation, stated, “Thanks to Rip Curl, people were able to plug-in to International Surfing Day and give something back to our oceans, even if they couldn’t make it down the beach.”
