San Clemente, CA (December 8, 2008) – Project BLUE is making it easy this holiday season to suggest great gift ideas that not only appeal to surfers and beach lovers, but also give back to the environment. Beginning December 8, project BLUE is re-launching their successful “All I Want is a Clean Ocean” campaign at betruetoblue.com/card, which allows hopeful gift recipients to send custom e-cards offering suggestions from the project BLUE product line to their friends and family.

By logging into betruetoblue.com/card before January 31, anyone with an Internet connection can send an e-card that suggests any number of the more than a dozen products in the current project BLUE lineup.  A portion of the proceeds from each project BLUE purchase goes towards helping the non-profit Surfrider Foundation in its mission to protect the oceans, waves and beaches.

By giving items from the project BLUE initiative, gift-givers can have the dual satisfaction of not only purchasing great presents for their family and friends, but also in knowing that they’re helping Surfrider as well.

“I consider project BLUE gifts as two presents wrapped into one. When you give someone you care about a gift from project BLUE, you’re also giving back to the environment,” commented Vipe Desai, founder of project BLUE.  “Project BLUE gifts are high quality, thoughtful and show that you’re aware of environmental issues currently plaguing our world.  We shop, our friends and the environment win.”

As a harmonization of leading and competitive brands in the multi-billion dollar surf industry, Billabong, DAKINE, Electric, Famous Wax, Nixon, O’Neill and Reef have made it a priority to help Surfrider achieve its goals by creating a line of special-edition, co-branded merchandise for both men and women, specifically for the project BLUE initiative.  Year-round, part of the proceeds from products sold under the project BLUE umbrella help Surfrider’s global efforts.
