Top rated ASP North America Pro Junior, Travis Beckmann, 20, has arrived in Australia to join with the best junior surfers in the World in an effort to capture the ASP Billabong World Pro Junior title.  Beckmann arrived early to acclimate his body with the time change and spend a little advance time familiarizing himself with the break.   This is Beckmann’s first trip to the legendary contest; his first visit to Australia and most importantly this will be Travis’ final amateur contest appearance of his career.

“It takes an extraordinary amount of focus over a long period of time to keep yourself in one the top spots.  It’s been both tough and rewarding, mostly an overall great learning experience this year as well as allot of fun.  I am looking forward to being on the beach in OZ with this particular group of surfers.  I grew up in Hawaii and many of my grade school friends will be there – along with rest of the top world juniors.  This is going to be challenging and I am excited to be a part of this contest.  These juniors are the best in the world and I am proud to represent the USA and the East Coast in Australia.”

This is the most prestigious junior event in the world. It marks the culmination of the 2008 ASP Pro Junior Series where competitors from each of the seven ASP World regions compete on their domestic tours for a chance at qualifying for the Billabong ASP World Junior Championships.
