December 4, 2008: - - Lizzard teamrider Corey Ziems is lucky to be alive after he fractured his lower back riding a wave at the infamous Banzai Pipeline on Hawaii’s North Shore earlier this week.

Commenting on the injury, Corey said “Just got back from the hospital, I fractured my lower back but the doctor says I was lucky and I should be right in about 6 weeks. I just gotta wait for it to heal itself. I watched a video replay now, geez it was a nugget. I can slowly and painfully hobble around so thank God it wasn’t worse.”

Corey is on his way back to Australia where he will receive specialist treatment for his injury in the next few days.
