Big Red Productions, Inc announces official line up for the 6th Annual Huntington Beach Surf Theatre Film Festival presented by Toyota of Huntington Beach and Dibs Brand Bite Sized Snacks during the world famous US Open of Surfing July 25 thru 27 2008.

Thanks to a partnership with the prestigious Huntington Beach Art Center, this year's event will take place under the stars, in the heart of Downtown HB, at 538 Main Street.

The Huntington Beach Surf Theatre Film Festival is devoted to showcasing a wide range of surf films to the public. Though most surf films would be bundled into the “documentary” category, we know that surfers are specialists; they are longboarders, short-boarders, classic old-schoolers, new school aerialists, big wave chargers, stand up paddlers, world explorers and humanitarians. These people have a commitment to the ocean and surfing and have done their part to capture it on film. We are proud to bring the surfer, the filmmaker and their fans together at Surf Theatre.

Big Red Productions is recognizing these efforts by awarding the following categories:
* Best Corpo Video
* Best Independent Filmmaker
* Most Innovative
* Best Cinematography

As a warm-up to the film festival, on Monday, July 21st, we will continue with the neo-tradition of “Roasting” Tributes; this year's honoree will be Rick “Rockin' Fig” Fignetti. The name that ultimately fits the man's personality and synonymous to Huntington Beach, “Rockin Fig” with his ambidextrous career is no doubt a legend within our Surf City. A ten-time West Coast champion, Fig has announced the U.S. Open of Surfing the last 12 years and has been the KROQ-FM surfologist for the last 19 years, doing morning surf reports. He also owns a surf shop on Main Street in Huntington Beach called Rockin Fig Surf as well as has his own column in the HB Independent, “Wet n Wild with Rockin Fig” in which keeps locals connected to the ins and outs of the surf world. The Roast is sure to be a hilarious “tell-all” highlight, moderated by Peter “PT” Townend, with an all-star Roaster-roster including: Tom Curren, Bob “the Greek” Bolen, Mike Downing, Scott Warning, Bud Llamas, and more to be announced. This event is open to the public, and the roasting begins at 7:00 p.m. at Luggatti's restaurant on 5th Street- don't miss it!

The official Film Festival Opening Night will feature a very special fundraising screening of the powerful film Between the Lines, to benefit the Long Beach Veterans Prosthetics Lab.

A film by Scott Bass, Ty Ponder and Troy Page, Between the Lines; a true story of surfers during the Vietnam War, is narrated by acclaimed writer and director John Milius (Apocalypse Now-Big Wednesday), exploring the Vietnam War through the prism of the surfing sub-culture. This documentary film offers unique insight into the dramatic effect that the Vietnam War and draft had on young American men who rode waves. The filmmakers as well as surfers Brant Page, Pat Farley and other heroes from this groundbreaking film will be in attendance.
