FINAL DAY PHOTOS

Yeehawww! Volcom’s annual VQS Championships wrapped up on Sunday in clean chest to head high Newport Beach conditions. Amongst the banjo plucking, squirrel frying, and Orange County cougar prowling (it was Mother’s Day), there were some high-flying, hillbilly hucks going on out in the water.

A few things of note:

-California’s Nate Tyler was the only non-Hawaiian hillbilly to win a division on Sunday, as he took the Bootleggers (Pro-Am) division. With the $10,000, a jet ski, and much more he won, he decided to give away the Channel Islands board he won to a lucky fan. What a guy.

-Ezekiel Lau went big in the Porch Babies final and is looking to win at NSSA Nationals so he can finally grow that hair out after ten years due to a bet with his pops.

-Malia Manuel once again showed that she is the up-and-coming lady to beat. Look for her to defend her US Open title this summer.

-The Grasshopper finals (Air) had guys throwing more hillbilly hops then we could handle. Torrey Meister ultimately came up with the win.

$50 Grand in prize money, tons of free goodies for the chilen, and the best damn hoedown this side of the Mississippi equated to another balls-out VQS Championships.
