Without a doubt, Fall is the best time of year to be a surfer in California. For those of us in SoCal, the ‘zoners have migrated back to Phoenix, leaving behind only freshmen daughters at SDSU and empty beach rentals. Meanwhile up north, our Santa Cruz brethren celebrate the departure of overall-wearing hillbillys from Sacramento and San Jose as they rip the waters of their hometown. Along with the fleeing tourists, we get sweet combination swells, warm water (at least down south we’re still trunking it), offshores in the morning, lobster for dinner, and Sunday football. Yep, life is good here in California come Fall…
