High winds kicked up the waves on Lake Superior over the weekend, calling diehard surfers to make the trek to Duluth.
Surfers wore wetsuits that allowed them to stay in the freezing water for up to 45 minutes.
One surfer, who has battled the cold water since the 1970’s, said the energy and environment draw people out.
“To be here with all the snow and conditions, it’s really such an invigorating sport,” explained Greg Isaacson.
Some people drove more than five hours in blizzard like conditions for the chance to catch the perfect wave.
