Lay Day For Roxy Pro, O’Neill World Cup Of Surfing Takes Center Stage

SUNSET BEACH, Hawaii (Saturday, November 29, 2008) – Event organizers at the Roxy Pro at Sunset Beach have called competition off for the day, allowing the men to tackle the solid eight-to-twelve foot (3 – 4 metre) surf on offer at Sunset Beach today.

“The swell increased throughout the day yesterday and into the evening,” Randy Rarick, Vans Triple Crown Event Director, said. “The surf is substantially bigger this morning so we’ll be running the men today and possibly tomorrow as well as the swell is forecast to increase even further. That being said, we’ll make an official call for the girls at 7am tomorrow.”

Stop No. 7 of 8 on the 2008 ASP Women’s World Tour, the Roxy Pro at Sunset Beach is also the second event on the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing (an ASP Specialty Series), and yesterday’s action saw the best female surfers in the world tackle the biggest waves of the season.

The ASP WQS 6-Star PRIME O’Neill World Cup of surfing at Sunset Beach will commence at 8am this morning.

The O’Neill World Cup of Surfing at Sunset Beach will be webcast LIVE via www.triplecrownofsurfing.com

Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 7am for a possible 8am Roxy Pro start.
