A great white shark has been spotted in the same area of a fatal shark attack, south of Perth, at the weekend.

Paul Vickery (above) and his wife were dropping crab nets from their five metre aluminium dinghy about 9.30am when a large shark swam up next to their boat.

They headed straight back to shore and were met by a fisheries boat, which was in the area searching for the body of shark attack victim Brian Guest, who was attacked at the beach at the weekend.

Fisheries spokesman Tony Cappelluti says the couple was not hurt.

“Probably going to be a bit startled and concerned, but the people are safe,” he said.

“There’s a number of boats down there now searching to see whether the shark’s still remaining in the area.”

Earlier fisheries officers told the media that the shark had attacked the couple’s dinghy, but they now say that is incorrect.

Mr Cappelluti says the shark has not been seen by Fisheries officers since soon after the incident.

They believe it is unlikely to be the same one which attacked Mr Guest at the same beach at the weekend.

Mr Guest, aged 51, was diving with his son when he was fatally attacked by a great white shark.

His body has not been recovered.
