SAN DIEGO COURTS – Seth Cravens was described by a prosecutor yesterday as a bully who crashed parties, started fistfights and seriously injured those who crossed him.
He hit his targets where they were most vulnerable, delivering “punishing blow after punishing blow to the head,” Deputy District Attorney Sophia Roach said.
Cravens, 22, pictured here with the man he has admitted to killing, Emery Kauanui, is on trial for murder in the death of the La Jolla surfer.
“What you have learned about Mr. Cravens is that he doesn’t like to be challenged,” Roach told the jury during closing arguments in San Diego Superior Court.
Pointing to evidence presented during the two-week trial, the prosecutor noted several incidents in which Cravens allegedly struck people, including a teenage girl, after they confronted him.
Ultimately, the prosecutor said, this pattern of behavior led to a fight with Emery Kauanui, 24, who died days after Cravens knocked him to the ground, cracking his skull on the pavement.

I am truly saddened about this tragedy. I watched the special on Friday night and couldn’t believe what had happened to Emery. I am an African American women who have heard of gangs in LA and I couldn’t understand why that loser attorney as educated as she is could not see that the bird rock bandits too were a street gang. I only wish that the others could have shared jail time with Seth. They walked away scott free. Emery was such a handsome youngman and didn’t deserve to die they way he did. I am sickened by the whole story and work up on Saturday morning heartbroken.
