With a small grade tropical depression finally forming off the coast of Africa, we’re psyching up for 2009’s hurricane season.
Hence this wrap-up video courtesy NOAA. This visulaization was compiled by NOAA’s GOES satellite, which takes images of the Northern Hemisphere every fifteen minutes. It’s pretty detailed and gives you a good idea of how storms are formed, the paths they took, a view of pressure systems, and a general hurricane froth. Man, that Atlantic is like a storm system machine that time of the year, just spewing out storm after storm. Check out the three-storm helping of Gustav, Hanna, and Ike around the 1:30 mark.

Surfed those hurricans last year and not in the ocean, Lake Michigan believe it or not. When they come up from the Gulf Of Mexico it dose still have plenty of energy for the lakes to get waves its amazing. http://www.nosaltsurf.com. Burton

Last year was a really fun hurricane season. I live in Jacksonville Beach and mainly surf that region, but made some roadtrips and caught great waves in Central & South FL on the Atlantic, and caught the Gulf Coast totally epic. I love hurricane season, its a busy time of year for east coast surfers, lots of road trips and camping. Good times.
Check out these pics: http://www.thesurfingsite.com/RyanKetterman.html - these were taken in Bradenton Beach, FL during the tail-end of one of the swells.

why is it always about Lake Michigan with you? there are a few other surf spots in the world worthy of a check now and then.
