The inaugural Yop Reunion Surf Pro Junior, an ASP 3-Star Men’s event running along with the ASP 2-Star Rexona Girls Pro Junior, saw the crowning of local heroes Maxime Huscenot (St Gilles, REU), 19, and Joanne Defay (St Leu, REU), 17, both claiming this year’s ASP European Junior Series opening event in great fashion.
Season 2 of TransWorld SURF Nerd is here! We've revamped the rules a bit and shortened it up to just one round, so more nerd for your surf. Episode 1 is a banger, with two San Diego legends, Rob Machado and Taylor Knox, facing off in a heated battle.
Art Brewer, one of the world's premier surf photographers, will lead this unique workshop on advanced techniques in action surf photography. Throughout the program, students will have the opportunity to work exclusively with several talented professional surfers in some of the most consistent and perfect waves of northern Nicaragua.
The inaugural ASP 4-Star Rob Machado Seaside Pro Junior presented by Hurley, Reef and Whole Foods Market is slated to host America’s top male and female under-21 surfing talent at San Diego county’s Seaside Reef on April 22 and 23, 2011 and will play a vital role in surfers’ qualification campaigns for the 2011 ASP World Junior Tour.
“The Gold Coast event was obviously a bit disappointing for me in terms of results but I felt like I wasn’t at 100% so I was happy with the effort in finishing 5th,” Gilmore said. “I feel like my wrist is much stronger now and I’ve been putting time in with my shaper and working on my equipment. Hopefully that will transfer to an improved performance at Bells.”
DC is proud to welcome pro surfers Mark Healey and Reef McIntosh to its Surf Team. Mark and Reef join pros Craig Anderson, Ry Craike, Clay Marzo, Marc Lacomare and Dillion Perillo on DC’s Surf Team.
Last weekend the Surfing America Prime East Coast Series wrapped up it's season at Ponce Inlet, Florida which saw Keto Burns and Quincy Davis take the perennial Boys and Girls Under 18 divisions, while NSB boy Noah Schweizer shined (and took the Boys U16 title). Due to small inconsistent waves The O'Neill Coldwater Classic Scotland was forced to hold off from running competition after the incoming afternoon tide failed to pulse with adequate strength. After being placed on hold throughout the morning and early afternoon, event officials decided to return tomorrow morning to assess conditions for a possible restart of competition.
Thurso, Scotland greeted the second event of the 2011 O'Neill Cold Water Classic Series yesterday with perfect six-footers on the opening day. Can't get much better than that. It's a lay day today so make sure you check out all the photos and highlights here.
