    The U.S. Open of Surfing is quite simply the biggest surf contest in the world. The event—which began way back in 1959—hosts a variety of sideshows and attracts more than 500,000 people to the famed Huntington Beach Pier with the surf contest being the primary focus of spectators. The men’s event is a 6* Prime event and will be critical in determining surfer’s One World Ranking. On the ladies side, the U.S. Open is the only 6* rated event on the U.S. mainland.

    With these prestigious points on the line, the very best in the world will be surfing on the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier. Names like Kelly Slater, Andy Irons, Mick Fanning, the Hobgood bros, Rob Machado, Stephanie Gilmore, Jordy Smith and Dusty Payne will all be donning jerseys in 2010. Along with the top pros, the U.S. Open also attracts the best groms too, with kids like Kolohe Andino, Nat Young, Courtney Conlogue, and Evan Geiselman headlining the Nike 6.0 Pro Junior.

    The U.S. Open of Surfing runs from Saturday July 31st to Sunday August 8th and can be watched live at www.usopenofsurfing.com.
