Product Review: The Ultimate Board Enhancer

I’ll be the first to tell you that when I heard there was a product you rub onto the bottom of your board that made you go faster my bullshit sensors immediately shot through the roof. “Yeah right I’ll go faster,” I cynically told co-workers yesterday as I rubbed Surf Nano Products “Ultimate Board Enhancer” onto my fiancée’s old Merrick Flyer—which has definitely seen better days (being skeptical and pessimistic by nature, I’ll admit I used her old board so as not to experiment with one of mine).

Surf Nano Products Board Enhancer

With my girl’s board all lubed up and ready to rip, we met up this morning in Oceanside with New Jersey shredder Rob Kelly and the guys from Surf Nano Products. “So Rob, honestly, what’s your take on this stuff?” I asked as we got suited up. “You can really notice the difference when you put it onto an older board that has lost some it’s life, you know?” he answered. Perfect, I thought as I eyed the decaying 6’2” Channel Islands Flyer. Now, while I may think I surf well, I’m not so full of myself to disregard the fact that I can use all the help I can get—especially in the waist high and mushy conditions we were looking at this morning. So with Rob’s endorsement, I paddled out with an open mind—and an old, busted up board that had a fresh coat of “The Ultimate Board Enhancer” on it.

On my first wave, the board took off as off as if I was shot out of a cannon! Nah, not really, but I could actually feel a difference from the day before’s session as the board felt a bit more alive and a touch more responsive. Like I said, I need every little advantage possible these days, so yeah, the stuff worked in that regard. Something else that’s cool about the product is that it’s UV resistant, meaning your board will stay white longer, which is something to think about if you’re a surf shop owner and your surfboard inventory is sitting under florescent lights all day. The third reason I’m gonna back this stuff is because I have a severe case of “Surf Equipment Based Obsessive Compulsive Disorder”—I ‘m very anal about my surfboards being in the best possible condition they can be in ‘cuz good ones don’t grow on trees, and, when I get a good one, I want it to last. I’m not going to say that you’d notice the product if you’re surfing at say, Pipeline or Teahupo‘o where you could go 120mph with an entire bar of wax on the bottom of your board, but in small, weak surf, it definitely helps.

So there you have it, three reasons why we’re gonna back The Ultimate Board Enhancer: 1) It makes you go just a hair faster, and in the conditions normal people like you and me surf, anything helps. 2) It protects your board from the sun and it’s damaging UV rays 3) By sealing the tiny holes on your board, no water can permeate the skin, thus adding life and longevity.

One package of Surf Nano Products “Ultimate Board Enhancer” costs $32 and is good for use on four shortboards, making it cost around $8 per board.

Yeah right, another gimmick. Just use furniture polish, lemon scent. It will make your surfing smooth and fresh!!!! Seriously though. It’s the same shit. Just an oil based product that sheds water. Except the lemon scent of my pledge is Killa!!!

  • forneek8ter Says:

Carnauba car wax works just as good and it lasts longer, proven in millions of cars and can do more boards for the fraction of the cost.

  • Lance Says:

this is retarded…just like those surf goggles

  • WTF???? Says:

my bullshit sensors go off every time you create a new blog… did they give you a quarter to promote?

  • jcote1271 Says:

I’m sticking to my guns…the stuff protects your board from UV rays and seals it by filling small holes thus adding life to your board. It’s not that complicated.

  • tprimo Says:

After your first wave, you’ll be amping on this stuff. Don’t expect a miracle, but expect an inprovment. Besides, with board prices at$550+, $32 is well worth it to protect your boards.

  • kurtis Says:

yeah, i though the same thing - just another gimmick. but this stuff is more along the lines of rain x but lasts a lot longer.

  • Brian Heritage Says:

After first hearing of the SNP board enhancer, I was skeptical. However after an initial trial of the product I noticed my boards were working better and going faster in a variety of conditions. The UV protection is an added bonus especially for the stock boards in the racks at our shops.
After realizing the beneficial aspects of the board enhancer, I have applied it to Heritage’s team riders’ boards and they have been stoked about the added speed. Because we have had such positive feedback I have decided to incorporate the board enhancer in the manufacturing process of all Heritage Surfboards.

After reading some of the comments, I have to laugh. I thought at first it was BS as well. I’ve been surfing for 40 years, and still like to be competitive in the line-up and have some fun. My son used the SNP and was stoked, so I tried it on my paddleboard in a 22 mile ocean race two weeks ago around Abesecon Island NJ and my time was one hour and eight minutes faster than the previous year and I placed 6th, ahead of some very stiff pro lifeguard / watermen competition. Now I use the SNP on my long and shortboards and feel like a grommie in the lineup. The cost is minimal and the benny is huge. Try it you’ll like it.

i actually surfed to work the other day using this stuff and saved time and gas. the revolution is here. this shit is for real!

  • stu Says:

you should totally trust a product review from the guys who just gave you the Gear Guide. Now, if they’d actually review some of the big advertisers’ wetties etc. and give real (including negative) reviews, I might be inclined to believe anything they have to say.

  • Lucifer Says:

    this stuff got me laid!

  • Rob Kelly Says:

I was thinking the exact same thing when I heard about this stuff, but then I thought about all the other little things you can do to your board that will make it feel completely different.. Like changing your fins, going a fraction of an inch thinner or wider or even the guys that dont put stickers on the bottom of their boards because they say it slows them down. Then I felt stupid thinking this stuff wont change my board at all so I got some of the stuff and put it on one of my boards and felt the difference right away. This product has some hi-tech nano stuff in it as well as a UV protective chemical. Im no scientist, all I know is that in everyday conditions this stuff totally gives you an edge. Even just a bit more speed makes a HUGE difference when surfing in average surf. I also starting thinking about how many times Ive lost or won heats by half a point or less competing… in a sport that is mostly determined by the ocean, its so important to do everything you can to have the upper hand on your competition. After using it, now i put it on all my boards and I probably always will. Its like the difference a traction pad makes. If you’ve never used a pad before your board will feel and work fine but after getting spoiled by the difference it makes, its hard to go back to riding a board without one. Unless your that “soul” guy that still doesnt belive in the leash, why not treat yourself to a little more speed and a newer looking board.

you guys are clowns. quit promoting yourselves. who would type that essay for no reason. fucckers

  • Leroy The Masochist Says:

Who you calling a clown Kevin? lol. I put some SNP on my foot and see how fast and far I can shove it up your ass you lame little kook. I use SNP on all my vehicles, even the “Belchfire 1″…It works. Enough said.

  • Ricky Bobby Says:

I agree with The Masochist. My name’s Ricky Bobby and ever since I was a child I wanted to GO FAST!! Cars, women, craps. I’ve won at Taladega and Daytona. I might not be a smart man but I know what speed is. Last year I took some surf lessons in Atlantic City and wanted to go fast. I applied some SNP to the bottom of my stick and I was flying so fast my baggies flew off. Good times.

  • YEAHBRAH Says:

Yeah I put some SNP on my stick and I really went fast. Like 10 seconds. My chick was bummed…lol

  • Zach Trout Says:

My crazy uncles started up SNP and I jus got him to put it on my rat boy. When he was tellin me about this stuff a couple months ago.. I mean right away I was like no wayyyyyy. How much faster can my M10 go. Its light as a feather, and so sleakkk, personaly speed n air is a must. Too much friction can be a nuisance and surly can put a damper on my wave. I would be amazed to meet someone who could make my board go faster… Hahh whats up uncle andy?!? So I asked Rob kelly how it was workin out in Cali for him… His responce was no diferent than his brother chris of whome I asked in school. Il take they’re word for it lol. Okay Ima give it a whirl when we get some decent waves n Il let ya know… Check this stuff out at heritageee ask Brian.

  • surfcat Says:

No doubt…you have to think, this is a scam??? So i tried it. A small amount of cash…so y not?? Impressive!!!! I have to say through the bottom turns and roundhouses you can feel the realease. No drag!! It’s AMAZING, a product comes out that intensifies your subtle turns. I feel a boost that makes me wana surf more and try more radical manuvers with this extra speed I’m getting off my Roundhouse to rebounds. Nice Work Surf Nano!!! Hey to all you sceptics…i hear their coming out with “Lemon” and “Coconut” Scents?
When your ready to beleive…Rip it Up!!!

  • Lance Says:

anyone who uses the phrase “rip it up” and goes by the name of surfcat needs to be kicked in the balls and punched in the throat…=)

  • john Says:

yo. if you dont think it works. go ahead and be an a$$ whole about it. as long as you can be the coolest surfer dude on the block who knows all there is to know about surfing and wants everybody to know it. honestly, ive tried it, and it works. i haevent beeen surfing for much more than a year, so i cant tell you about all the crazy airs it made me do. but i can paddle faster, and i feel more relaxed when i surf with it on my board. mr.g knows what he is doing.

  • Anonymous Says:

    hahahahahahahaha. balls and throat.

  • IslandStyle Says:

I’ve seen your boards, you really need this stuff for sure.

  • Ron Collins Says:

Best innovative surf product in recent years. I used this product on my 5 year old Stewart Funboard and I noticed a significant difference right away. It added life to a sluggish old board. My board had stopped hanging at the top of waves and had a quicker release at the take off point enabling me to get into waves easier. It definitely increased the speed down the line and through flat spots. WATER RESISTANT + LESS FRICTION = LESS DRAG ! WHO WOULDN’T WANT THAT? I am getting a new Stewart this weekend, I will be applying SNP before it ever hits the water. See ya in the water!

  • chris kelly Says:

SNP works! use it or lose it

  • texyak Says:

who the hell would want to go faster?

  • Robert Cordiak Says:

    Thanks,
