This week on Cote’s Cube, Josh Sleigh brings in photographic proof of his recently completed kickflip. The only roadblock to him winning the Volcom Kickflip Off and the ensuing $10,000? No video proof. Did Sleigh get fingered? You tell us! My opinion is that while he did a full on kickflip (and has the scars to prove his many attempts in the past), Sleigh would have won the money had he rode it out and into the flats—and caught it on video. Either way, it’s guys like Josh Sleigh who are constantly pushing the aerial envelope and he deserves some props…and a sponsor!

Mad props to Josh but rules are rules. Keep it going! I’d say the person to pull a kick flip would be Eric Geiselman. I’ve seen him only try a couple here in Hawaii and came oh so close. Mason Ho could bust one too. The start of kick flips for summer… over the next 3 months it will be done! Let’s see it!

Rules are rules in team sports but surfing is about breaking rules . Not everybody can afford a dude with a video camera following them filming their every bowell movement. Josh sez he landed it , he landed it , he’s out there doing this stuff everyday anyway.

Ive gotten close to pulling one in the flats a few times… but.. cmon… thats the best, most “legit” above-the-lip kickflip Ive seen yet.
I would write him the check… but maybe we need to see him pull it every time, and advance surfing to the next level. Get it on video, colect the 10K, and I can only hope for the sake of surfers like myself trying to step it up , that a sponsor finds him.

That was insane if you look at the last 3 pictures he caught it perfectly and then by looking at the last frame of film anybody can
finish that drop not to mention this is Josh Sleigh. So for the peeps looking for a couple more frames put yourself on that board in that frame and you tell me. Send him a Check. The video thing is a cop out they just assumed no one would get a sequence cause in my book that is a step up.

Definitely can’t give him the 10 g’s without actual evidence that it was completed, but with that motion down I don’t doubt he’ll pull one on tape eventually. Just please stop with the wake surfing videos. That is a joke.

You’re an idiot. Canon does have a camera that shoots 30 fps. The problem with stills is they make everything look good. They hide style, flails, and most important, finishes. What I don’t understand is why the photographer didn’t add one more shot. I’m sure Josh has landed these before.

One more thing nobody mentioned is that he’s surfing one of Ben Way’s 50/50 surf skates or something like it. Those things are basically skateboards. Lets see someone pull it on a real surfboard

exactly, he’s probably attempted this trick so many times, how is he gonna know when he is actually gonna stick it, so what are the chances of him having someone around to film it? It’s not as if the pics are sketchy or anything, you can clearly see him stuck it.

Nice! Definitely amazing and if not cleanly landed (to the flats) the closest attempt that has been put out there in the public eye. But, doesn’t JL shoot video as well? If you are trying these and coming that close with 10 g’s on the line he may need to put the still camera down for a while. That said I hope you are the first person to get it on video, you deserve it!

and fyi- normal movie film runs at 30fps… so if a SLR could shoot 30fps the movie would be hella more clear at 21.1 megapixel, and sleigh could collect the 10k
