If you ever find yourself in the surfing fantasy-land that is Coolangatta on the Gold Coast of Australia, you will no doubt be taken by its modern and fashionable charm. I can easily say that this is the most surf psyched city in the world, and you can feel it in the air when you walk the streets—surf is king here in Cooly. You’ve seen the Superbank and Duranbah in full wave-machine mode, so now let’s take a quick tour of the town, and give you a few tips on how to live like a local while you’re here.—Chris Cote

Boys as an Aussie who lives not far from here, one I would recommend you bring on any trip to Cooly is a basic command of Portuguese. That’s right heaps of Brazil nuts everywhere. The chicks are fine but the blokes are bit full on.

Sydney has better waves - particularly Bondi. Uncrowded & real consistent.
