Flipping Out In Mexico

The Vans surf team (at least a good chunk of it) scores an under-the-radar south swell at an undisclosed Mexican beach break while the rest of California waits out a killer flat spell/frost advisory combo. The highlight of the trip was an amazing flip pulled off by Pat Gudauskas. Check the sequence for proof… Viva Mexico!

im sorry but these grabs are getting lame .. looks gross!start doing
them with one hand gram ,, cj has done a couple sick ones. straps would look better then a double grab…

  • nelly Says:

gezus, you are tripping!!!!!!! can you do one? cj is a freak, and yes ive seen those and they’re sick too, but this is a different move. way more inverted.

  • kai Says:

the guys name that you dont have, is Jose Manuel Trujillo, AKA Yuco Flow

Calling that a flip is about as lame as calling pop-shuvits “passion pops”. That’s just another one of those “540 rodeos” (if they are even rodeos in the first place) that Dane and Jordy do on every wave. Am I blind? Did I miss the front flip? or Back flip even? There was no flip there, just cause you call it a “flip” doesn’t make it a flip.

  • nelly Says:

anonymous, all i know is i was on the beach shooting this “flip” rodeo whatever and it was one of the cleanest, biggest, bio maneuvers ive seen. dane and jordy dont do these on every wave either by the way. you’ve been watching too many videos. whether it was a flip or not? backside kerrupt? i grew up skating, and i remember when lance mountain, caballero, hosoi and gator started doing shit like this.where were you? who are you anonymous? cant even put your name on your lame negative comments? Wheres your clips for us to critique…….Nelly

It’s true those rodeo’s are starting to loose their “wow” power. Pat’s pretty good at them so I think what he needs to work on now is letting go earlier and trying to tweak them as much as he can. Yeah, it isn’t a true flip and yeah CJ’s lien grab versions are the most stylish out there. Check out my That’s Bullshit on Double Grabs. i recently brought up this topic… http://www.surfingthemag.com/news/surfing-pulse/thats-bullshit-chapter-4-jimmy-wilson-011609/
