the goose was the first to slide a rail on a surfboard 6 years ago. check it out it in an osiris surf vid. josh sleigh did it after the goose. in fact he was at the session that goose first stomped it and he couldnt stick it. not to take away from sleigh he rips too.

if these surfers are going to try and be skater have them rail slide the thing and stop doing 50/50’s which is just going straight. Slide the bitch… or look like a bunch of wannabes.. This is as lame as when the bring snow to the beach and have snowboards slide a rail and then stop. If surfers or snowboards want to do this cheeze stuff then step up to a skateboard.

goose railslid it he didnt 50-50 the rail. it is a little un functional to slide a rail surfing. you have to look at it as surfers giving props to skating. lots of surfers skate. im not talking long board soul carves. im talkin real skating. the rail is a way for skating surfers to combine sports they love. at least they are not strapped in like wakeboarders and snowboarders. sliding a rail on a surfboard isnt easy either. the timimg is tough and everywave is different. average surfers couldnt do it even if they are good skaters.

I was there for most of these crazy attempts at braking your legs on the rail, long after the lifeguard left and I saw that little kid (standing in the picture with the Santa Cruz Board w/RVCA) do the rail better than anyone else. There is no picture of the kid grinding the rail, and he was the only one who rode the wave to the beach after he made it. Who was the grom?

Sick, not sick, whatever… it was definately entertaining. plus skatboarding only exists because of surfers wanting to do something when the waves were bad. its actually pretty dope to see it come full circle. what happened to the surf rail anyway? will there ever be a round three? i’d be down to break a few boards to get across that rail…
