Jamie O’Brien Wins 6th Annual Da Hui Backdoor Shootout

After three days of competition at Pipeline–both Pipeline proper and Backdoor–Jamie O’Brien has won the 6th annual Da Hui Backdoor Shootout.

In conditions that ranged from huge, third reef Pipe to a more manageable six-to-eight foot and perfect, O’Brien overcame a rampaging Bruce Irons to win a huge $50,000 payday.

1) Jamie O’Brien $50,000
2) Bruce Irons $25,000
3) Ola Eleogram $15,000
4) Marcus Hickman $6,000
=5) Myles Padaca, Mark Healey $5,000

In addition to the individual awards there was a team tally, too. Taking top honors was the Quiksilver squad consisting of Mark Healey, Reef McIntosh, Danny Fuller, and Tyler Newton.
