Kelly Slater’s Jet Ski Wipeout At Teahupo‘o Presented By Air Tahiti Nui
On the final day of the Billabong Pro Tahiti, 11-time world champ Kelly Slater went right out at Teahupo‘o—something kinda rare out there—and ended up drydocked on the jagged reef. Hustling to get back out to the lineup, he hopped onto the back of the Tahitian Water Patrol jet ski, but lagged getting aboard. With a set looming and three dudes aboard the ski, they didn’t get a clean line at getting over a wave and capsized. Pinned under the ski and with a big Tahitian dude bear-hugging him, Kelly finally managed to slip out from under it and get to his feet. Unscathed, the champ scrambled over the coral reef and back to the lineup.
