PR – RIP MY SHRED STICK: PLAYA JOBOS
The Hurley Puerto Rico RMSS went down on the beautiful beach of Jobos, Isabela. We were greeted with perfect weather and fun waist to chest high reeling rights and lefts. The Hurley crew, Brian Toth, Evan Geiselman, Michael Dunphy, and Chispa Torres were on hand to help and support the 50 excited Puerto Rican kids. The kids were ripping and some incredible waves were ridden. The paddle race was intense as well, with 25 kids going for it at full speed with Jorge Martinez taking the finish line first. Mundo Rad Magazine got in on the action, check out their full galleries.

PISMO BEACH – RIP MY SHRED STICK 2013: PISMO BEACH
The RMSS crew made their way up the Central Coast of California for the Pismo Beach stop. Yadin Nicol and Dane Zaun were on hand to help out the 45 kids braving 48-degree waters and what we’ve been told was “bitter cold wind.” Fortunately, the waves were a fun 3-4′ and glassy, and our friend Hula Hartley got the dance party going to get everyone warmed up.

HERMOSA BEACH – RIP MY SHRED STICK 2013: HERMOSA BEACH
Although the waves were waist to head high in Hermosa Beach, it was definitely overhead for a few local mini-groms. Over 50 kids from the South Bay came down to the Hermosa Pier, joined by Dane Zaun, Brad Ettinger, Rachael Tilly and Hula Hartley (who was disguised as a swamp monster at one point). There was surfing, there was corn dogging, there was a dance-off and there was a grom dog pile on top of Dane Zaun. Needless to say, Hermosa kids know how to have a good time.

SANTA MONICA – RIP MY SHRED STICK 2013: SANTA MONICA
Tandem rides on the Riviera Paddle Surf board, perfect kid-sized waves (2-3ft peaks) and the bellyflop wipeout of the day winning a more than two years worth of Hi-Chews (don’t blame us for the dentist bill) were just a few highlights of Rip My Shred Stick Santa Monica. About 60 LA kids came out for the event, which we hosted with ZJ Boarding House in the Ocean Park neighborhood.

MISSION BEACH – RIP MY SHRED STICK 2013: MISSION BEACH
San Diego definitely knows how to have a good time, and the first Rip My Shred Stick stop of 2013 was proof of that! Almost a hundred kids came down to Mission Beach and Sun Diego Boardshop and set a great standard for the rest of the tour.

The waves at San Fernando Street were perfect for the microgroms (including the youngest RMSS competitor ever, two-year-old Bryce Seshun): 2-3 foot windswell. Conner Coffin was on hand to give some lessons in both surfing and “corn-dogging,” where he proceeded to dump sand on kids (real nice, Conner). Whole Foods provided breakfast, lunch and snacks, so needless to say, the kids were full all day. One of our favorite artists, Stink, was there to trick out hats, shirts and wetsuits (and even did a little face painting), all with the help of BoardStix paint pens.
