Perth Beach Closed As Tiger Sharks Feed

Not a good day to spend at the beach in WA…

As reported on au.news.yahoo.com:

Tiger sharks are feeding off a dolphin carcass off Perth, prompting the closure of Trigg beach to swimmers. Surf Life Saving WA (SLSWA) said there were an estimated 13 tiger sharks, ranging in size from 1-3 metres, about 20 metres offshore, between Trigg and Scarborough beaches.

SLSWA community safety manager Chris Peck said inspectors would monitor whether Scarborough beach should also be closed. The sharks would hang around as long as there was a food source, Mr Peck said.

Tiger sharks are known to attack humans, but there has not been a fatal Tiger shark attack in WA waters since the 1930s, he said.
