2012: THE YEAR IN COVERS
Oh how time flies. It seems like just yesterday we were browsing through the photo files looking for a page 1 image for the January 2012 issue of TransWorld SURF. Julian Wilson and Jason Kenworthy ended up with the first cover of the year after sticking a huge frontside air in Bali. From then on it’s all a blur as Oliver Kurtz landed on the Women’s Issue, a little native kid from Papua New Guinea stole the hearts of all, Flynn Novak flipped out, Cloudbreak went XXL, and JOB got attacked by a monster.
With a stagnant economy, ongoing war, and despicable acts of cruelty carried out by our fellow humans, 2012 was a challenging and difficult year at times. But let’s put all that aside for a bit and focus on what we know best—surfing and the joy it brings. Here’s to one more surf-filled lap around the sun and many more to come!
