Body Glove’s The Disappearance Is Chosen As A Finalist For X-Dance Film Festival And Surfer Poll & Video Awards

Redondo Beach, CA [Oct 30, 2012]- Body Glove’s short film The Disappearance has been chosen as a finalist in the Surfer Poll & Video Awards and The X-Dance Action Sports Film Festival. The Disappearance was also the winner of the 2012 TransWorld Surf Imaginarium contest for Best Video and Best Overall, bringing Body Glove the win 2 years in a row.

The Body Glove team was hyped from their win last year at TransWorld Surf’s Imaginarium contest, where 4 surf teams are challenged to conceptualize and produce a unique and creative photo and video submission. Their 2011 entry, 8-Bit was a lighthearted, funny Mario Brother’s style surf film that won them the honors of Best Video Award and Reader’s Choice Award. So, this year the team decided to take a much different approach to their submission.

The Disappearance follows a group of four professional surfers and six filmmakers on what should have been the ultimate surf trip to the jungles of Indonesia but quickly became an excursion into heart-stopping terror. As the group discovers a perfect, secret wave, strange images begin to appear on film. Are they sharks, alligators, or something else? Fear sets in. Accusations fly. By night, unseen evil stirs beyond their campfire’s light. By day, large animal prints are discovered nearby. Members of the crew begin to disappear one by one. As the end of their journey approaches, they realize that what they are filming is not an epic trip but their own descent into unimaginable horror.

Starring professional surfers Jamie O’Brien, Anthony Walsh, Alex Gray and Cheyne Magnusson, The Disappearance has already racked up over 800,000 views online and has gained acclaim throughout the surf industry.

The X-Dance Film Festival, which is the #1 action sports film festival in the world for the past 13 years, has chosen The Disappearance as a finalist. With all the top athletes and best filmmakers in the world in attendance, X-Dance has set the standard for any action film in the world. The X-Dance Film Festival will take place in Salt Lake City at the Depot from November 8-11, playing The Disappearance on Friday the 9th at 6:15 pm.
