If you could count the number of boards that will be broken on the North Shore from now until April the number would be staggering. Photo: Bielmann/SPL

The North Shore of Oahu roars to life and Sunset Beach takes center stage. But why was the water so green? Blame it on summer. After a few months of dormant surf, once a swell hits, the nearshore water gets all churned up for the first time in ages and fine sediment and silt rises to the surface. So don’t worry, the next swell will be nice and blue like we’re used to.
