Every year in Ventura, the Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) hosts a surf contest at its marquee surf spot—Point Mugu—that is open to military and civilian surfers. Needless to say, local surfers leap at the opportunity to surf one of the best waves in the region with just a handful of dudes out.
