Deemed too religious by the city of Encinitas (where it was covertly hung below a railroad overcross) the artwork has been in hiding as its owner and creator, Mark Patterson, looked for a home for the 10’ x 10’ mosaic. The place he found for the artwork is perfect—right next to “Surfy Surfy” a surf shop started by longtime Leucadia local JP St. Pierre. Props to Patterson and JP for saving the Surfing Madonna and just like the mosaic says, “Save Our Ocean.”
