Ozmageddon 2012
We’ve been in Australia for 24 hours now so it’s time to get this thing started! We’ll be covering the Quiksilver Pro and all the surrounding mayhem—which leads to why it took 24 hours to get the daily blog started. Basically I fell into the Coolangatta vortex. Once again we’re staying at the Komune, which is kind of the epicenter of nightlife action in these parts. I brought two bottles of Peligroso tequila down and despite the best intentions, they’re both gone. We gave one to Jason Stevenson from JS Industries in hopes of securing one of his shred sleds and one was guzzled down by a variety of characters including Steve Sherman (getting the enemy publications photographer drunk is a magazine war tactic), Luke Egan, local legend Brent Dorrington, and some dude we met at a Byron Bay carpark last year.

Had a little surf last night in the rain and was witness to Ace Buchan, Carissa Moore, Koa Smith, and Kolohe Andino ripping through the pack as the swell picked up. I brought out my iPhone in its LifeProof case and did a few Twitter and Instagram posts from the channel. People were tripping. Follow us on Instagram at transworld_surf and on Twitter at twitter.com/transworldsurf. With the sun starting to peek out and the surf picking up, it’s time to go fan out on Dane Reynolds down at the contest site…
