JS Industries

Lineup of shred sleds at JS Industries headquarters. We were like kids in a candy store...

Yesterday we went to the JS Industries factory down by Kirra to check the place out and pick up a few boards. They’re one of the biggest surfboard brands yet the place still has the feel of a backyard operation in that there are nudie girl photos on the walls and piles of foam dust everywhere. I got a 5’8” x 19.25” x 2.25” Revolution model with FCS plugs and had a blast on it despite the small surf. The thing is going to be magic back home! JJ picked up a little Pier Ponymodel that is only 5’4” but actually floats him. Made for really small conditions, we’re all going to ride it the next couple days as there’s not much surf on the horizon.

Donavon Frankenreiter

Donavon Frankenreiter and his wife Petra.

Donavon Frankenreiter is currently touring Australia so we went to see him play last night at the Kirra Hotel. The big Donnie news is that he cut his hair! I’ve known him since we were teenagers and he’s always had long hair so it was a trip to see him with a new do. We had a few drinks before the show then Donnie got a huge posse of us into a little side area at the show and instructed the guy working there to keep the Corona’s flowing and on ice. It was a great show and got even better when Kelly Slater hopped on stage to sing American Girl by Tom Petty.

The weather has taken a turn for the worse and it’s now raining. Apparently there’s going to be midday call for the contest but it sure looks bleak right now. We’ll keep you posted on our Twitter account at twitter.com/transworldsurf or on Instagram at transworld_surf.
