Cam Richards And Weston-Webb Win 2011 Rip Curl GromSearch USA 16 & Under National Final; Will Compete In Bells Beach
Igrashi tops 14 & Under field and Colapinto takes out 12 & Under title
November 3, 2011 / Ocean Beach, San Francisco, USA — Cam Richards of South Carolina and Tatiana Weston-Webb of Kauai are the 2011 Rip Curl GromSearch National Final 16 & Under Champions after claiming victories in their respective divisions of the Rip Curl GromSearch National Final presented by H2O Overdrive.
Held in conjunction with The Rip Curl Pro Search “Somewhere in San Francisco,” the GromSearch was held in fun, three to four foot conditions at Ocean Beach just one day after Kelly Slater secured his 11th ASP World Title at the same break.
Four different divisions were run today with Californians, Kainoa Igarashi taking top honors in Boys 14 & Under and Griffin Colapinto claiming the 12 & Under victory.
Competitors qualified for the finals via Rip Curl GromSearch regional events in Huntington Beach (West Coast), Kewalos (Hawaii), New Smyrna Beach (Florida) and the Outer Banks (Mid-Atlantic).
In addition to prize money offered for each division,16/under divisions will win all-expenses paid trips to Bells Beach, Australia to compete in the GromSearch International Final held in conjunction with the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach.
Past GromSearch winners include 4X ASP World Champion Stephanie Gilmore, Jordy Smith, Owen Wright, Matt Wilkinson, Alana Blanchard.
