Kaenon Polarized Sunglasses signs Courtney Conlogue!
Newport Beach, CA — June 16, 2011 — Kaenon Polarized, the Newport Beach based Lifestyle and Luxury Performance sunglass brand, proudly announces that Courtney Conlogue has joined its surf team. Conlogue joins the roster of Kaenon Polarized surf team riders including Austin Ware, Jamie Sterling, Shea Lopez, Matt Meola, Jason “Ratboy” Collins and Josh Mulcoy.
Conlogue, the 18 year-old from Santa Ana, CA, hit the mainstream world of surfing when she won the 2009 US Open at her home break in Huntington Beach, California in some of the largest waves the event has had in recent history. After her victory, Courtney’s focus shifted to earning a spot on the Women’s World Tour, which she joined in 2011. Now six months into the tour, she has moved up the rankings with three fifth-place finishes, bringing her to her current rank at seventh, overall. She also picked up a win at the 6-star event in Margaret River, Australia earlier this year.
“I’ve had my eye on Courtney for a couple of years now,” said Chris Wyman, Sports Marketing Director at Kaenon Polarized. “At the US Open in 2009, I was sitting on the pier at Huntington shooting photos, when I watched Courtney charge a solid 8-foot bowling lip, hit it, drop and cleanly ride away right next the pilings. Needless to say, I was impressed! Courtney is a perfect fit for Kaenon. She is a southern California girl that charges hard and has a great outgoing attitude − everything Kaenon stands for.”
Conlogue has been a major force in the surfing world for the last four years with noteworthy finishes including:
2007 Gold Medal Summer X Games
2008 1st Vans WQS, Huntington Beach
2008 1st Open Women’s, NSSA Nationals
2008 1st USA Surfing Championships, 18 & Under
2009 2nd ISA World Jr. Championships
2009 2nd Open Women, NSSA Nationals
2009 1st US Open Women’s Champ
2009 1st ISA World Championships
2010 2nd Billabong Women’s Azores Island Pro ASP 6-Star
2010 1st Cabreiroa Surfing Girls ASP 6-Star
2011 1st Drug Aware Pro ASP 6-Star
“As Kaenon Polarized continues to grow, building the best possible eyewear, we want to align ourselves with the best possible athletes and Courtney is one of them,” Wyman said. Kaenon and Courtney look forward to some big years ahead.
