SAN DIEGO — Dane Williams was working his “dream job” at an Orange County sportswear company at the end of January 2008 when he came to San Diego for a convention. The last time any of his co-workers saw him, he was stumbling toward a hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter.
Days later, the 23-year-old’s body was found in an alley in City Heights. An autopsy revealed that Williams had a mixture of alcohol and a prescription drug in his system, but authorities were unable to explain what caused his death.
On Wednesday, a prosecutor told a San Diego Superior Court jury that trial evidence would point to Philong Huynh, who had a history of drugging young men while posing as a single, heterosexual man “looking for fun.”
