Victoria, BC Canada – Sitka announced the launch of their Movember campaign on November 1st of this year. They are hosting a moustache growing contest and collecting donations for Prostate Cancer and James Holt- a case of cancer that hits close to home.
James has been battling Neuroendocrine cancer for 9 years, and recently discovered new spots on his liver during a routine CT Scan. He was waiting for a liver transplant when spots on his lungs were discovered, making him unqualified for a liver transplant. James’ doctors suggested he try Radioemobolization Treatment, which is still going through clinical trials.
In conjunction with raising awareness and funding for James and Prostate Cancer, Sitka is hosting a moustache-growing contest on their Facebook Page. Participants are asked to post photos of their moustache – before, during and/or after the growth stage – to the Facebook Wall. The photos with the most ‘likes’ will be entered into the finals at the end of the month. The chosen winners will win a $500 Sitka shopping spree. Sitka hopes this contest will help draw attention to their fundraising cause.
You can get more information on James’ treatment and post moustache photos on the Sitka Facebook Page at http://www.facebook.com/sitkasurfboards
